Good to know.
Is BeatVerse really free?
Yes. There is no price, no subscription and no ads. The app is open source under the GPL-2.0 licence.
Where do the songs come from?
From plugins. The default setup loads a JioSaavn plugin for songs and charts. What you can play depends on the source and on your network, so not every song will be available.
Do I need an account?
Not to browse and play. Last.fm is the only account the app mentions, and it is optional, for scrobbling and Last.fm Picks.
Why does Android warn me before installing?
BeatVerse is not on the Play Store, so Android treats it as an app from outside the store. Allow "Install unknown apps" for the app you opened the file with, then install.
Which phones does it run on?
Android phones with a 64-bit ARM processor, which covers most phones made in the last several years. The APK is built for arm64-v8a only.
The songs won't load. What should I check?
Try the same network in your browser, then turn off any VPN, ad-blocker or custom Private DNS. Also check that date and time are set to automatic, because a wrong clock breaks secure connections.
